the pollution problem

The fashion industry is the second largest pollutant in the world (!) and its toxic effects on our environment are affecting communities across the globe. (Source: The True Cost) More specifically, fast fashion is creating a huge waste problem, as the rate of disposal is not keeping up with the availability of places to put everything that we’re getting rid of and it’s having a costly environmental impact. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 15.1 million tons of textile waste was generated in 2013, of which 12.8 million tons were discarded

Clothing made by fast fashion companies is not designed to last very long. When consumers dispose of their unwanted clothes into the garbage, they almost always wind up in landfills. As much as 95 percent of the clothes that are thrown away can be either re-worn, reused or recycled. And that's where we come in. The majority of our business is made up of us recreating previously worn clothing. Extending the life of clothes by just nine extra months of active use reduces carbon, water and waste footprints by around 20-30% each. (Source: GreenPeace)

Our sustainable goal

Since 2016, we have saved thousands of garments and fabric scraps from winding up in landfills. Its an amount we’re proud of, but that’s only a tiny fraction of America’s total textile waste.

OUR GOAL IS TO RECLAIM, REDUCE AND REUSE 10 MILLION ITEMS BY 2030.

We know it seems like A LOT and that’s because it is, but billions of items are going into landfills every year so our goal can make a real impact.

We want to protect the planet for future generations to come. With some imagination, innovation and a sprinkle of textile magic, we aim to make it happen.
